As we move into the
season of Advent we do so in hope. The Second Sunday in Advent reminds us that
we are people who see things very differently because God shows us a new view.
We are invited to see things not as they seem but as they truly are, and that
is where hope comes in. Hope in the Scriptures is not something that is hoped
to be true but something that is confidently looked forward to because God’s
word is sure and His promises are always fulfilled. Christ has come, He will
come again in glory. His word is certain, and that’s why we know that He comes
to us in the Gospel and the Sacraments with His forgiveness, life, and
salvation.
